Two Souls released on Android!

The moment has come!

2Souls has finally hit Android! Derp Studios winning game candidate from the Swan PR competition, with special thanks to Train2Game and many others in getting the game where it is today. We hope you enjoy playing it as much as we’ve enjoyed developing it!

So without further ado:

Introducing one of the most challenging games to grace the app store! Take control of two little androids on their journey through the stars. Although their goal is the same, their paths are very different. Using the analog sticks guide our two little soul mates towards the end zone of each level in the best time you can achieve!

  • Challenge Mode, a true test of dexterity!
  • Achievements, beat the challenges set by the developers and earn achievements via Swarm.

Bug report forms are live!

We have just launched a bug tracker/submission system to our website!  Reporting a problem has never been so simple.   All you need to do is click on the “Report new issue” button and fill in all the fields.  Player feedback is always appreciated and Derp Studios is dedicated to bringing players great gameplay experiences.  The studio is always aiming to bring out high quality titles and what better way to do that by offering players a chance to be heard!

2Souls Wins Train2Game PR Contest!

2Souls has been announced as a winner alongside Icey Monty’s browser game website.  The competition was fierce from the other Train2Game students who were making the most of the opportunity to snag some free PR!  However, Derp Studios has prevailed and we have two very special members to thank, Nicola Valacasara and Darroch McNaught for bringing us 2Souls and for taking the initiative and opportunity to grab Derp Studios some more attention.

In the following weeks the studio will be hoping to see an Android release of 2Souls.  So keep them peeled ladies and gentlemen!

Introducing 2Souls!

Two members of the studio have recently entered a Train2Game PR competition.  The game is an arcade style game where the player takes control of two characters and moves them both individually with corresponding joysticks.  The aim of the game:  reach the end of the level.

I’m assuming you want to know the catch??  Well…read on!

As us gamers know, reaching the end of the level is never straight forward, in 2Souls you will be controlling two characters simultaneous.  You only have a certain amount of time before the platform you are on falls, so you will need to be very dextrous.  If that wasn’t challenging enough, the paths on each side are completely different, both with their own twists and turns.  If you get to the end of the level without falling off you progress!

The game is aimed for mobile platforms and we will try our best to port to all the major marketplaces!


Derpman released on Windows Phone 7 and 8!

Happy New Year guys and girls!  It’s taken a while but as a new years resolution, Derp Studios are tying up loose ends.  In fact, to get the ball rolling we have shipped Derpman onto its first mobile platform! (Hooray!)

Our game jam candidate for Speccy Jam is out to play.  I must warn you all though, this original game jam version has a lot of bugs in it.  Fear not, for our team has been working hard to make it bug free.

Derp Studios participating in Speccy Jam!

We are proud to announce our participation in the global Game Jam:  Speccy Jam!

The game jam is a week long which commences on the 16/11/13 (finishing on the 23rd).  So far over 40 developers have jumped on board to create a title of any genre, to which the theme is to create their game in the style of a ZX Spectrums graphics.

The challenge of this jam is to be as creative as possible in the constraints of the graphical limitations.

Developers must keep their titles at 256×192 resolution, use the 15 colours from the light and dim colour pallet the ZX Spectrum offered and if you are that hardcore….you can even follow the attribute blocks guidelines of having a maximum of 2 colours from the same set in ever 8×8 segment of the screen!

I have to admit, even our artists who were avid players of their ZX Spectrums found it quite the challenge to abide by the attribute block rule.

However the studio is prevailing and going hardcore and abiding every rule Speccy Jam have set us!

Our candidate for this Game Jam is a simple continuous runner…featuring…wait for it… DERPMAN!!!!!


That’s right, Derpman has his first game and he will have many more titles in the future.  We’ve had a good laugh developing it, so we hope you enjoy playing this multi-coloured monstrosity!

We are going to be releasing the game on the PC for free.  Mobile and Console versions are being discussed, however these will cost the lowest price tier on the marketplaces so fear not!

Derp Studios in The Radio Magazine

RadMag MS AdvertDerp Studios are very happy to announce that we have branched out and now work on Radio Apps as well as fun, quality games.

We have recently created an app for RTI radio station based in Poprad slovakia that is live on Windows 8 now on PC and Smart device which you can pick up here:

We have other clients lined up with some big names from radios past that we will announce as we complete them.

The work we have been doing was also picked up by The Radio Magazine which is the last radio specific magazine left in print and is shipped out to all major and minor radio stations. You can read the radio article at

We have also been heavily supported by Microsoft through our new endeavor as they liked the idea of a radio application so much. We hope Microsoft will continue to help us in our games industry journey.

Derp Studios July Meet up

DSCN1789Derp Studios has spent all of this past week together at Cheltenham University working together on our latest project.

On Monday, Derps from all around the country descended on to Cheltenham. We had team members from Essex and Northamptonshire arrive and the work began.

As I arrived on Monday I noticed a distinct lack of morale as it was a rather warm day, I decided I would change this!

The next day I arrive to the university with cakes, muffins, and all manner of sugary treats. I also brought in some party hats and masquerade masks so the fun really could begin! For the rest of the day, many of the Derps enjoyed their sugary treats and wore party attire. The morale has been high ever since!

On Wednesday, we decided to terrify our coder, Nigel. One of our artists, Michael, was a wrestler in his younger days and so it was decided that for a group picture with our new team mates we would let Michael loose on Nigel, the picture turned out fantastic.

Thursday was a day of hard work. A lot of the time was spent in silence with heads down deep in work. The game progressed nicely.

On our last day working together things got a bit more light hearted. Whilst the work was done we had many an interesting conversation! Subjects included Martial Arts – with demonstrations, new Derpman stories and many amusing YouTube videos were watched.

It was a week filled with fun and hard work. This is what Derp lives for and loves!

Derp Studios Artist Graduates University

JacobDerp studios are very proud to announce that one of our Artists, Jacob Gamm, has gained a university degree in Illustration from Falmouth University.

Derp Studios has been aiding Jacob in his University work since he joined Derp Studios in January of this year. Jacob used the work he created with the studio as his final piece for university.

The art work Jacob created was on display at an end of year show for the university with many people viewing his artistic skills and once Jacob announced his end of year show, we uploaded his beautiful concept art to our website which you can view, here.

Jacob said, “Working for Derp has been an incredible experience for me. I’ve learnt that my passion is in concept art and not simply illustration but, more importantly, it’s working as part of a team.

“Illustration is a solitary career, but I have never had more fun than when locked in a room with a bunch of talented nerds all working together. After our first face to face meeting I rang up my girlfriend and told her; I know what I want to do for the rest of my life.”

Congratulations Jacob on gaining your 2:1 in Illustration.
